DNL or de novo lipogenesis is the name of a process occuring in ones body by which the carbohydrate food that we eat and which gets converted to glucose is transformed into fat(fat cells). This process happens when someone is in a caloric surplus diet where is calorie expenditure is less then his calorie intake.
       Studies prove that when a person is on a caloric surplus diet then this is the the first process to convert glucose that occurs in the body which builds fat cells and can make someone obese if the diet is in a caloric surplus for years.
